Grid Wood Illusion
Grid Wood Illusion
Description
The Grid Wood veneer has been created by the Swedish design studio Front. Grid is a veneer based on an ancient pattern that creates the illusion of a grid structure. Four different toned woods are joined together as a block, then thin layers of veneer are planed off to create the veneer. The result catches the light and gives a sense of depth to the flat surface.
Front's design objects often communicate a story to the observer about the design process, about the material it is made of or about conventions within the design field.Front’s work is represented at MoMA, Victoria & Albert Museum and Centre Pompidou.
This backgammon is handmade using the art of marquetry (also spelled as marqueterie) which is the art and craft of applying pieces of veneer to a structure to form decorative patterns and designs.
Our skilful workers use this method in order to create both inside and exterior design of the backgammon.
